It's Almost Time for Ghosts!

And we're not just talking about Halloween!

As many of you probably know, the beloved Raina Telgemeier has a new book coming out at the end of this month, Ghosts, just in time for the Halloween season and Día de los Muertos! We were lucky enough to get our hands on some review copies, and while it's probably no surprise, you're going to LOVE it! But why listen to my mere verbal description of the story when you can watch this beautifully animated trailer?

SO GOOD, RIGHT?
Is that not enough to tide you through to the book's September 29th release date from Scholastic? Here's a video of Raina talking about some of her inspiration for Ghosts:

Now, I'm guessing you won't be seeing this book sitting on your shelves for at least a few weeks, but that doesn't mean you can't do a display around it! The confluence of this book's release, the upcoming holidays, and Hispanic American Heritage month means that a Día de los Muertos display is in order! Break out the sugar skulls, (paper) flowers, some well-sourced informational displays, and BOOKS! Here are some ideas for books (that aren't Ghosts) to stock your display with:

The Dead Family Diaz by P.J. Bracegirdle

Conchita y Rosita: A Rhyming Storybook in English and Spanish by Eric Gonzales, translated by Erich Haegar

Clatter Bash! A Day of the Dead Celebration by Richard Keep

Day of the Dead by Linda Lowery

A Gift for Abuelita: Celebrating the Day of the Dead by Nancy Luenn

Dia de los Muertos by Roseanne Greenefield Thong

Funny Bones: Posada and his Day of the Dead Calaveras by Duncan Tonatiuh

Calavera Abecedario: A Day of the Dead Alphabet by Jeannette Winter
