Spirit Day is October 15th

"Spirit Day is presented by GLAAD each year as an international show of support for LGBT youth and to take a stand against bullying.

But it's not just about 'going purple.' It's about starting a conversation about the realities of LGBT bullying and educating youth and adults alike on how they can help prevent it 365 days a year."

Spirit Day's website (www.glaad.org/spiritday) offers many amazing resources for both educators and students alike.

One of my favorite pages is the Facts page found here: http://www.glaad.org/spiritday/about/factsThese small charts make a big impact.

This day of support has been celebrated since 2010 and has grown ever since. You can show your support by wearing something purple, taking the pledge on the website, or by setting up a display of purple books! If you are looking for other who are showing their spirit of support just search for #SpiritDay
