Award Season

As ALA Midwinter is creeping closer and closer the special few for some of the major awards (aka the good ol' sticker books) are being released! It is the job of the committee members to read hundreds of books and narrow it down to a well-deserved lucky few. Recently the finalists for the Morris Award were released, and just yesterday the Nonfiction Award finalists. Take a look at the titles below. Did some of your favorites make it?

"The William C. Morris YA Debut Award, first awarded in 2009, honors a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens and celebrating impressive new voices in young adult literature."

"The YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction honors the best nonfiction book published for young adults (ages 12-18) during a Nov. 1 – Oct. 31 publishing year."

We just had our Mock Caldecott here at SCLS and will be holding our Mock Printz on January 8th and our Mock Newbery on January 14th! Hope to see you there.
