YA Contemporary Fiction Fake

I just can't help but share The Onion's take on what some are calling the "John Green effect". Books about teenagers dealing with problems in the modern world have now been categorized as Young Adult Contemporary Fiction. Here the satirical news source writes a general summary for a new "groundbreaking" YA novel. That cover is giving me shades of The Fault and Our Stars/Where Things Come Back. I see you black bird on blue background with cloud outline!

They write, "BEND, OR—Poised to shake up the genre with its daring choice of protagonist, a groundbreaking young adult novel released this week by author Joan Berman reportedly makes the bold choice of following a moody, independently minded high school student who could be described as something of a loner."
