Rush Limbaugh Wins Author of the Year Award at Children's Book Choice Awards
Rush Limbaugh, Children’s Book Author of the Year winner, made a brief surprise appearance at the Children's Book Choice Awards to accept his award for Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans (S. & S., 2013) before slipping out of the ceremony. Book sales determined the nominees, and kids voted online to choose the winners. But, as the AP noted, adults could also weigh in and vote multiple times. He trumped four other finalists for author of the year, including Jeff Kinney, who wrote “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck;” Rick Riordan, for “The House of HadesVeronica Roth;” Veronica Roth, author of “Allegiant;” and Rachel Renee Russell, creator of “Dork Diaries 6: Tales from a Not-So-Happy Heartbreaker.”
34 Nassau and Suffolk libraries have purchased the title, with only a handful of libraries cataloging it as a children's book. The vast majority seem to have the title living in the YA section.
